Wines

This is an interesting reading, I felt that Wines was pushing more for the less glamorous but more sustainable architecture, much like the examples we’ve seen in our case studies (Tim’s and Annie’s projects come to mind). So far in studio I, like the others who have posted, felt that we are being pushed to develop our conceptual ideas first and have not thought as much about eco-design as much I did about its functions and aesthetics. In hindsight, perhaps it was meant to be up to me to design with a sustainable mindset. So far, I have incorporated a green roof in my plans but have been struggling with reducing the amount of glazing on my facades. It is interesting to experience the struggle between making something sustainable and making something attractive, and I keep asking myself, “Why aren’t they the same at this point?”
