The feedback from the midterm presentation sent me in another direction. I am trying to keep the design grounded, focusing on the actual transit platform itself. The goal is to make all parts of the design speak the same language, as critics have suggested.
This week I engaged the actual structure of the platform, merging steel and glass in a rather simple way. The basic construction is reminiscent of Pierre Koenig’s Case study house.
This scheme offers an enclosure from the elements, while maintaining a feeling of safety and security with the illumination and transparency of the space. Dramatic illumination is imbeded in path of glass that meanders in and out of the enclosure, around the wind screens.
I have also considered placement of objects such as seating, trash receptacles, phone booths, ticket machines, and signage.
