In September 2019, I took on a collection of archaeological artifacts from Cambodia and Thailand donated to me by a private collector from Eugene.  Since then I have worked with students to research and catalog these objects for repatriation. Student research on this project has included:

  • A series of academic posters about different parts of the collection created by students in my Winter 2020 ANTH 346: Archaeology of Southeast Asia course.
  • Undergraduate student Marie LeRoux, studied spindle whorls from this collection and presented a poster on her work at the 2020 Undergraduate Research Symposium.
  • Undergraduate student Kelby Beyer, has undertaken several terms of research on glass objects in this collection and won the 2022 Asian Studies Award for her research poster on this topic. Kelby also prepared a paper presentation on her work that was read by Alison Carter at the 2023 Society for American Archaeology conference in Portland, OR.
  • Undergraduate students Yogi Bailey, Kira Maddox, and Maddie Miner-Paul have assisted with documenting and photographing this collection for repatriation.
