Pteah Cambodia: ProjecT Excavating Ancient Households
Pteah or ផ្ទះ is the Khmer word for house. We call our project Pteah Cambodia because we investigate ancient residential spaces from the Pre-Angkorian (6-8th centuries), Angkorian (8-15th centuries CE), and Post-Angkorian (15-17th centuries CE) periods. In 2018 and 2019 we undertook excavations of occupation areas around the 11th century temple of Prasat Basaet located in Battambang Province. We have recently received an NSF grant to continue fieldwork and research from 2022-2024. You can read more about this work at our project website.
