Discovering new music and compiling playlists is one of my hobbies and passions. With the added free time that online school allows, I have made many new playlists this year. The seasons change and the music does too. Every Friday, Spotify creates a “New Music Friday” playlist with the new releases of a bunch of popular artists. Below are some of my favorite new releases and personal finds, discovered through hours of listening to Spotify radio, talking to friends, and learning about new artists online through Twitter and Instagram.
Some of my new favorite songs:
Fake – Conan Gray, Lauv
All About You – Leon Bridges, Lucky Daye
Matter To You – Sasha Sloan
PERSIAN RUGS – PARTYNEXTDOOR
Hate The Way – G-Eazy, Blackbear
West Coast – DVBBS, Quinn XCII
Favorite albums:
LANY – mama’s boy
LANY’s third studio album, mam’s boy, includes 14 songs. The genre is a mixture of pop, soft pop, and pop-rock. The album has the perfect combination of slow, chill songs with a few more upbeat, boy band pop songs.
Astrid S – Leave It Beautiful
Astrid S, a Norway native, released her first album, Leave It Beautiful, on October 16th, 2020. The album has a contemporary pop feel. There are 10 songs on the album, each an inspiring bode to self-empowerment and heartbreak. Leave It Beautiful has a dance-floor sound mixed with lyrics about boys, choices, and love.
PARTYNEXTDOOR – PARTYPACK
PARTYNEXTDOOR, hip-hop and R&B legend released PARTYPACK, a 7 song EP with features that include the late Nipsey Hussle, Lil Yachty, and Quavo. The songs mostly revolve around love and women. The songs on PARTYPACK are slower than some of PARTYNEXTDOOR’S other releases, but it’s a great collection of songs. The featured artists really add another layer to the songs with their unique voices.
New artists:
LAUREL – A British alternative pop singer who produces in Los
Angeles and Europe.
Fickle Friends – An indie pop band created by three men and one woman living in Brighton. The music is strong on female vocals and great use of instruments
