Reflection on piece of work:
The reason why I chose the creative spirituality reflection as my example piece is because the questions posed opened up my mind on how spirituality is related to creativity since I never really thought of how they were intertwined before. But As I started to think about how to answer the questions it all started to tie in together and make sense. This reflection also made me think of how and if spirituality are related and the difference between them. I do believe spirituality and religion are not the same. For example, I am a spiritual person but I am not religious. I find my spiritual side when I immerse myself in nature, go on hikes, or spend time on the sea (picture below) instead of going to church because to me there is something very sacred about mother nature. I get lost in the beauty and start really “seeing” instead of looking at objects or as Grey would put it, “merely looking at a thing and actually seeing it.” (pg.1). However though I know other people who are religious and are also spiritual. So this made me think and I came to the conclusion that religion is a form of spirituality because spirituality is the opposite of ordinary, it is the search for the sacred which is what religion is. However, spirituality is not the same as religion, it is something higher because as I mentioned earlier there are many people without a religion that are still spiritual. By coming to an understanding between the difference between spirituality and religion I met a couple of the objects listed for this unit. In the future to get a better understanding on the difference between the two I could ask a group of Christians how they felt between the two and compare their answers to a group of non-religious people.
