Reflection on piece of work:

The reason why I chose the discussion post from the reading  “A Question of Values” by Lewis H. as my example piece is because in my discussion I was able to explore my own values and how I decide to prioritize them. By doing this I was able to meet one of the objectives. I also chose this artifact for my example piece because I thought it was very interesting how Lewis explains that there are 6 mental modes that drive our values: Sense experience, deductive logic, emotion, intuition, authority, and science (pg.7). In my case I realized that many of the values that I hold high stem from sense of experience and science. This is because I’m a bachelor of science major and have always thought experience is the best teacher. In the future, I can consciously think about each one of these mental modes and how they affect my decisions. If I can realize what mental modes are mainly affecting my values and decisions, then I can ultimately decide if I’m creating and using my values for the right reason.

This is a picture of me running a 5k because “health” is one of my most important values, which stems from the mental mode of science
