Reflection:
I think this discussion is highly related to the high technology we have discussed previously. Remixing culture needs high technology to do that. As in the Lessig’s talk, he pointed out that it is technology that makes young generation different from the older generation. He encourages to do much better for the next generation, for kids not for business, to keep their creativity. It is a good sign that technology is getting better an better, but following rules is still necessary. Some people are using high tech to use other people’s work without paying any compensation. These people are taking advantage of the loophole in the copy right law, which is really disappointing behavior. Some one might be discourage from creating new ideas because they are afraid their ideas will be taken away free of charge again.
In this discussion, I have also learned RO and RW cultures. This is the first time I ever heard about these two terms in abbreviation. It is interesting to know about read-write culture, where people create one thing and then influence their culture. Compared with read-only culture, where the culture was consumed by different people from the actual people who created them. I found it is interesting to know that today’s culture is shifted from RW existence to RO existence.
Future goals:
The future is unknown for me, because it is hard me to image the rapid changing in technology in the future. Nothing is impossible. I will remain a open minded to be willing to know and to learn the new technology. We are the young generations that can speak freely and think independently. We should contribute more of our thoughts and ideas into the development of our society.
