Reflection:
I am not a big fan of video games, and I do not know a lot about video games in general. After watching TED talk with Jane McGonigal, I realized that games like World of Warcraft could give player the means to save worlds, and increase their incentive to learn to become “hero”. The hero here means not to save the world by putting into actual force or physical actions, but to save the world by solving real-world problems. People who really into playing video games could be super smart both in the game setting and in the real life.
A female friend of my who really enjoying play video games everyday after school. I often ask her why you are so interested in playing video games. She then told me that she can find a way to relax herself from the intense school study, and if she wins the game, it would make her even more excited. But if you just first look at her from her outfit or appearance, you would never think of her as a really good video game player. How interesting it is, this finding can be tight up with the previous assignment on personal adornment. I believe different types of people that have very different beliefs and values, and these would make them dress differently. But sometime we can be wrong about judging people only from their appearance to you.
Future Goal:
I will search more speeches or talks focus on video games relate to high technology, how the combination of both have big influence on people’s daily life. I like Jane McGonigal‘s talk that actually changed my opinions about video games. Personally, I am not a game person, and I do not think this change in ideas about video games will make me start to play video games. I would like to find out people around me who are good video games, and to know how their lives are like.
