In the article computer graphics: Effects of Origins, the author Beverly Jones mentioned about the history of the practice of computer graphics and there is one specific thing that I find very interesting: “The creation and sharing of tools, environments, creatures and experiences complete with sight, sound and touch are technically possible.” As computing devices become more and more sophisticated and advanced, human are attempting to embrace technology with our own body, surroundings and maybe even the bigger environment. However, I don’t think it is a good trend. Although modern times people already integrated our daily lives with technology (think about wearable technology products such as Nike shoes with chips and apple watch), there still should be a red line between the artificial and the natural. If we let the artificial tools alter our surroundings, people will soon be unable to tell the difference between reality and the artificial and start to not cherish the things we have now in the nature.

  1. I thought your points were very insightful. I think it is very interesting to think about technology and it “taking over” our lives essentially. It is an interesting concept as we see technology becoming an even bigger part of our lives today. I agree that technology is growing in many different forms today. I know even my grandparents have trouble with technology today and it is crazy to think that when we get older things will only become more and more advanced. One way to think about this is texting. It is easier to send a text these days than to call someone or chat face to face. I also think that it is very important for people to still appreciate what we have surrounding us and nature (not just our technological devices).
