I have been teaching on-line since 1997 here at UO and was one of the first faculty to use Blackboard for AAD 250: Arts & Human Values, before we invested in the campus-wide license. I consider myself a skeptical evangelist when it comes to implementing new technologies into my teaching practice. Though I dive into experimenting with ed tech tools, I always question the effectiveness: is it helping me reach more students or is it stealing precious time and diverting me on a long side-track!

I regularly present to educators across the country at conferences and hosted settings about technology in education, developing hybrid courses and sharing tips for successful on-line teaching. I hope to share some of my enthusiasm and skepticism to help you get excited about teaching in new ways.

Currently I work as an Educational Technologist for the School of       Architecture and Allied Arts. I have a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Instructional Technology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (less formally known as Virginia Tech), in Blacksburg, Virginia.

I regularly participate in educational technology circles and prefer collaborative communities of learning as a great way to share information. I am looking forward to collaborating together. Most recently I presented at the New Media Consortium Conference in Portland on developing a cooperative framework between technologists and faculty to create engaging learning experiences. This presentation was done as a team, working with John Fenn from the Arts and Administration Department. I am greatly looking forward to sharing and learning from all of you during this week-long intensive.
