Hello, Class.

Hey, I am Feiyi Shao. You guys can call me Faith as well. I am from Anhui, China. I come from a tiny town in Anhui, called Guangde. I am a senior who major in Math in University of Oregon. This is my third year in Eugene, and also my seventh year in the United States since I have studied in the United States since I was in high school. Therefore, I have a host family in Rockhill, SC. They are very nice and kind to me. I really enjoy spending time with both of my families. In my free time, I like to draw and take beautiful pictures. In my three years in Eugene, I have done lots of paintings and taken many lovely pictures. Here is a picture of my both families(Chinese and American).

Here are some pictures that I take for our school.

I am interested in East Asian languages, especially Korean. This is because I really like to watch Korean dramas. I get influenced a lot by Korean dramas. Thus, I want to begin to understand. and know Korean culture and society more. Additionally, I am also interested in the differences and similarities among China, Japan, and Korea in many different ways. There are two main reasons that I want to take this class.

The issue of the differences and similarities of these shared traditional festivals among China, Japan, and Korea has intrigued me. So far, I like the way how this class is taught. The discussion section is really helpful for me since it gives more details for what we are supposed to do. The reading is also fun. Although I am Chinese, there are many surprising facts about Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages and societies that I do not know before. The quizzes help me to prepare this class before lectures since these quizzes give me the general ideas for everyday lecture. My own approach to learning is going to class, paying attention on class, and reading the lecture slide after class. In this class, I think most of my approach to learning works as well. However, reading before class is challenging for you since there are many hard and unfamiliar words in the reading. Additionally, I do not like to read. Therefore, I want to thank to this class since it forces me to read and help my studies in the future.

I like all kinds of food in East Asian countries. Thus, I wish we can talk about all kinds of delicious food in the lectures later on.
