Hello Class! – Hyunji

Hi! My name is Hyunji Kim (김현지, キム ヒョンジ, 金賢志) and I am your GE of this course. I am a PhD student of EALL and my major is East Asian Linguistics. My current research interest is multimodal aspects of (im)politeness in Japanese and Korean. In other words, I examine how people differently express deference and intimacy by verbal and nonverbal means. The following image shows how I code gestures with ELAN.

I love traveling, so I try to visit famous places whenever I go to a new city or country for attending a conference. In the summer, I went to Melbourne, Australia. The place in the picture below is State Library of Victoria which is one of the most beautiful libraries in the world I think.
