About

The ©ritical A®t Show is the cumulative project of the Remixing Media, ©ritiquing ©ulture FIG at the University of Oregon.

Remixing Media, ©ritiquing ©ulture explores how the appropriation, parody, and remixing of media texts (images, ads, music, video, etc) can be a powerful form of cultural critique. As we look at the culture jamming movements of the past and present, we apply these concepts and aesthetics to create our own works that turn the media and its messages against itself. This student showcase highlights the practical value of fair use within creative communities. In the spirit of creative commons, we reach out and exhibit pieces from the UO student body and Eugene community as well, working to be a representation of the greater artistic movement of this time.

The Remixing Media, ©ritiquing ©ulture FIG is comprised of instructor Dr. André Sirois aka DJ food stamp, assistants Ellie Reis and Izzy Chew, and 20 first-year students at the University of Oregon.
