Yellowstone National Park consists of multiple different types of landscapes, from bodies of water to mountain ranges. Rivers and lakes make up around 5% of the park’s area with Yellowstone Lake being the largest body of water (87,040 acres). The rest of the park mostly consists of grasslands, forests, mountains, and deep canyons.
The park also contains an array of plants and animals. There are 1,700 different species of plants and trees in the Yellowstone area and around 60 different types of animals. Some of the animals included are bison, bears, moose, wolves, deer, and mountain lions. In addition, there are 311 different kinds of birds and 18 different types of fish as well (Planetware).
