Please join us next Wednesday, February 24th at 6pm via YouTube as Ms. Lyllye B. Parker, longtime advocate and activist for racial justice and gender equity and namesake of UO’s Black Cultural Center, addresses the intersections of racism, sexism and other systems of oppression that Black, Indigenous and Womxn of Color face, as well as the Black Lives Matter Movement, the juxtaposition of “yesterday’s” experiences vs. “today’s” in terms in racism, her own legacy as the first Black family to settle in Lane County (and herself the first Black baby to be born at Peace Health Sacred Heart Hospital just blocks away from campus) and her lessons to us as an esteemed elder in our community.
This “fireside chat” style event will be moderated by Women’s Center Racial Justice Coordinator, Violet Johnson, and will be available for viewing on on https://tinyurl.com/LBP2021.
