Collaboration is at the heart of the “interdiscipline” of digital humanities (humanities computing). This is not merely a philosophical stance to which we ascribe but an absolute necessity for technology and scholarship to meet on common ground and explore the topics that have animated human societies throughout history. Our group reflects this collaboration in both our work partners and our methodology. We provide access and tools to scholars whatever their status or location. We work to erase the divide between technical staff and faculty scholars. We attract and train graduate students with strong interests in humanities computing, providing opportunities to strengthen their skills and to join us in expanding their scholarship to include the tools and approaches made possible by the digital revolution. We welcome new ideas and new people while maintaining our personal and professional connections with those individuals and associations active in leading digital humanities internationally.
