About Wildlife and Parks

________________________________________________________

Our project partners us with Friends of Buford Park and Willamalane Parks and Recreation District to help coordinate our monitoring plans and produce outcomes to the parks’ desired conditions. We seek to establish precise, place-specific methods to protect native wildlife and create enriching, functional, and accessible recreation spaces. To do this, we will critically analyze the current status of our study sites, Howard Buford Recreation Area (HBRA) and Georgia Pacific Natural Area (GPNA) with Vesper Sparrow (Pooectes gramineus) point counts, Western Pond Turtle (Actinemys marmorata) visual encounter surveys, visitor experience surveys, and social trail analyses. We hope that our work will help inform park stewards with observations and strategies to help conserve these sensitive species while engaging the public with local ecology.
