Recent publications

The Widom Lab has published several interesting papers since the last update! Check out Dr. Janson Hoeher’s work on the preQ1 riboswitch (link), Dr. nico conoan nieves’ work on the NAD+ riboswitch (link) and Taylor Coulson’s work on the fluorescent base analogue pyrrolocytosine (link).

New line of research on long noncoding RNA

We recently received funding from the American Heart Association for a new avenue of research! We will be using single molecule measurements to study a heart-specific long noncoding RNA that gets misregulated when the heart is under stress. We are looking forward to pursuing this exciting project.

Our optics lab is ready for action!

At long last, renovations to our basement optics lab were completed in February! We set up our laser tables, and at the end of the month, our femtosecond laser got installed. A lot of fun awaits once the circumstances allow us to return to the lab!

You might as well not exist if you don’t have a website, and now we do! A warm welcome to the inaugural members of the Widom Lab – graduate students Susan Beaver and Janson Hoeher, summer student Luis Perez Morales, and undergraduates Michael Veirs and Zoe Freeman. I’m very excited to work with you!
