My name is Esther Kang and I am a senior at the University of Oregon! I am from Portland, Oregon and am studying Education in pursuit of becoming an elementary school teacher.

I have been given the opportunity to study abroad as an exchange student at Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea for this fall 2017 semester. There were many challenges in choosing to study abroad, including the constraint in fitting it in my schedule, financial burden, and the fear of going alone to a new country. However, I believe that people are challenged the most as individuals when they step out of their comfort zones and explore the unknown. I was determined to go abroad for my own personal and academic growth: to grow in my own cultural awareness, learn more about my own heritage, and experience the educational system here. I step into this new country with a mix of uncertainty, fear, and excitement for what is to come!
