For the past four years UOTeach and the Sapsik’wałá program have partnered with a variety of units across the UO campus as well as with Bethel, Springfield, Eugene 4J, Lane ESD, the Oregon Department of Education, the Oregon Education Association and Oregon Safe Schools and Communities Coalition to provide ongoing professional development on culturally responsive and culturally sustaining pedagogies. The Department of Education Studies faculty and our M.Ed. in Curriculum and Teaching candidates are committed to engaging in this work through research, graduate studies, partnerships and field projects on culturally responsive pedagogies. The annual UOTeach-IN on Equity and Anti-Oppressive Pedagogies is an opportunity for us to come together as faculty, graduate students of education, and alumni practitioners to develop our culturally sustaining teaching skills together.

The 2020 UOTeach-In keynote speaker will be Dr. Bettina Love, author of We Want to do More Than Survive: Abolitionist teaching and the pursuit of educational freedom. In addition the UOTeachIN will provide three workshop tracks.
There will be session options on 1. Abolitionist Pedagogy 2. Anticolonial Pedagogy 3. Anti-Oppressive Pedagogy UO faculty, UOTeach teaching candidates, k-12 partner educators, and Oregon curriculum and teaching policy makers attending the workshops to explore and expand their knowledge of anti-oppressive curriculum and instruction.
