University of Oregon Rowing is seeking an Assistant Rowing coach for our men’s and women’s club sports crew team. This is a volunteer/stipend, part-time position, reporting to the Head Coach and Team President. 2 years of competitive collegiate rowing experience is required, 4 years preferred. Some experience as an assistant rowing coach in a competitive high school or collegiate program preferred. The successful applicant will work predominantly with our
Freshman/Novice women’s class and occasionally assist the Varsity squad. The team trains from October through early December and from January through the end of May, culminating at the ACRA National Championship.
Responsibilities will include:
•Instructing new athletes in the basic technique, skills, and equipment of the sport
•Working collaboratively with HC to implement a training plan and racing strategies
•Modeling sportsman-like behavior and maintaining appropriate conduct towards athletes, officials, and spectators
•Assisting in maintenance of boathouse equipment
•Coaching morning workouts from 5:45am – 8am, Sun-Fri
•Assisting with administrative tasks as assigned by Head Coach or Team President
•Recruitment of athletes to the University of Oregon Rowing team.
•Traveling with team to regattas
•Assisting Head Coach with trailer driving responsibilities
•First Aid/CPR certified (or ability to become certified)
•State of Oregon Boating License will be required
Stipend will range from $500 to $600 per each month of active coaching, commensurate with experience.

Coaching positions with the University of Oregon Club Sports programs are not funded by the institution. Payment of the coaching stipend cannot be guaranteed and funding is dependent on the club team’s ability to fundraise and collect member dues to support coaching payments. All coaches will be subject to a criminal background check, as required by University of Oregon Club Sports program. Coaches need to be agreeable to the coaching volunteer position and a complete description will be provided.
