The Founding of UOMC

Our Founder, Daniel Mariscal, began his academic career at the University of Oregon in Fall of 2011 as a declared Business major with an interest in entrepreneurship. Eager to get involved, and with an affinity for entrepreneurial ventures, Daniel began attending meetings and events hosted by various clubs and groups on campus including Climate Justice League and the Holden Leadership Center.

Now a Junior, Daniel has been active enough to achieve Board Member positions in 6 clubs, and still made time to found the U of O Motorcycle Club. This came about when Daniel was first accepted into the UO Lundquist College of Business (LCB), when his father offered to ship Daniel’s BMW F800GS from Alabama to allow him to ride with others. Excited at the chance to ride again, Daniel began noticing a large volume of motorcyclists around campus and wanted an avenue for meeting and getting to know other riders.

After meeting several other enthusiasts who agreed that his idea was worthwhile, Daniel approached the ASUO in Fall of 2013 with the hopes of beginning the process of getting endorsed as an officially endorsed club. On October 16th, 2013 the first ever presumptive UO Motorcycle Club meeting was held, and on May 1st, 2014 Daniel’s vision was realized and the UO Motorcycle Club was first recognized as an official, ASUO-endorsed University of Oregon Club!
