Day Three

Today marks our last day here teaching at North Bend High School. However, we had plenty of dancing to do still! UORDC co director Rita Honka, started the day by teaching traditional African songs and movement. Shortly after, she taught a master modern class opened to the community. As one would expect, Honka’s class was a wonderful treat for both participants and company members to take.

Our time spent in Coos Bay/North Bend was absolutely wonderful. Everyone was able to teach, and be taught, inspire, and be inspired. We can’t wait for the next tour!

Day Two

Not only was our second day here another action-packed day filled with even more dancing, the company was also able to provide a lecture/demonstration for the students. During the lecture, company members were able to teach and demonstrate movement pulled from pieces in our repertory to the students. Needless to say, we all had a good time.

Unfortunately, due to such a busy night, we weren’t able to document how our performance at the SWOCC Hales Center was.  However, sharing the stage with the North Bend High School Dance Company was extraordinarily inspiring for both dancers and audience members.

Day One

Day one was filled with energy and excitement from both the company members and the students! We began the day by introducing ourselves and interacting with the students. Then we taught multiple different dance classes such as hiphop, musical theater, modern, and even African dance to students ranging from elementary to high school. The day ended incredibly successful and we can’t wait to do the same thing again and perform for the community tomorrow!
