The University of Oregon Nordic Ski Team is a student run club sport, active during the Fall and Winter terms of the school year. Our club includes and welcomes skiers of all skill levels, from students who raced competitively in high school to those who are just learning how to ski.
The majority of our practices consist of dry land training during Fall term, and a combination of on and off snow practices during Winter term. Practices may include running, weights, and plyo exercises. Although practice is not mandatory, we do encourage skiers to work out together and be involved with the team– especially if they plan on participating in races and weekend ski trips.
Our club provides skiers with the opportunity to race during Winter term. Races range mostly from 5 to 24km distances. In the past we have participated in citizens races such as the Cascade Crest and Sunnyside Pursuit at Mt. Bachelor, and the Boulder Mountain Tour in Sun Valley, Idaho. We also just recently joined the USCSA league, which allows our club to compete against other collegiate club teams. Racing is completely optional, but is a very fun, worthwhile experience that is highly encouraged.
