We closed the year with a lot of fun meetings in Spring term 2021, playing games, sharing stories, and learning together! As always, you can view and download the slides from our meetings below.
Week 2: Introductions and Games
Starting Spring term off with some fun! This week we played Codenames online and a guessing game to get to know each other.
Week 4: Introducing Conference Guests
Our biggest event of the year was 2021 CONNECTION: a virtual conference about adoption. This meeting was dedicated to introducing our esteemed conference guests: Angela Tucker (keynote speaker), Deann Borshay Liem (featured film director), Estelle Cooke-Sampson (featured film protagonist), Kim Stoker (featured film protagonist), Ming Canaday (panelist), Astrid Castro (panelist), and Lynelle Long (panelist). Week 6: Genetic Testing
This week, we explored the complexities of genetic testing for adoptees. Member had a chance to share and discuss any DNA test results they had and think about what genetic information they might want to know about themselves.
Week 8: Sharing Stories
Member had a chance to share their adoption stories and coming-out-of-the-fog moments in breakout rooms. We also discussed Nichole Chung’s memoir, All You Can Ever Know.
Week 10: Senior Recognition
For our last meeting of the year, we celebrated our amazing seniors! We had our seniors send in short bios (major/minor(s), post-grad plans, message to ASU members, etc.) and played a fun game of online Pictionary.
