UO, Pakistan university partner to help confront climate change
Six faculty members from KIU spent two months this winter at the UO with a shared goal of confronting climate change through research and enhancing teaching. The exchange is supported by a two-year, $500,000 grant from the U.S. State Department, administered by the UO Center for Asian and Pacific Studies. A second contingent of KIU scholars is expected to visit the UO in January 2024.

UO receives $1 million grant for university partnership in Pakistan
The award is intended to promote curricular and professional development at KIU in the fields of environmental studies, business management, local entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.

International partnership matches UO, and Pakistani faculty.
The partnership allows faculty exchanges each year, pairing visiting KIU faculty with UO mentors and sending UO experts to work on projects in Gilgit. Twenty KIU faculty have visited Eugene, and several others are taking part through other programs.

The collaborative research between Khan and Margerum is part of the KIU-UO Partnership, a three-year initiative that began in September 2013 that has focused in the fields of environmental studies, business management (especially local entrepreneurial and sustainable development), and faculty professional development.

Building Women’s Entrepreneurial Networks in Pakistan
At the end of August 2019, two women entrepreneurs from Oregon traveled to Gilgit to help inaugurate the women’s entrepreneurial network there.
