2013-17: KIU-UO Partnership Grant: Awarded by the U.S. Dept. of State, CAPS added a new dimension to the UO’s international profile. The project set out to address some of these economic issues, successfully launching the KIU Centre for Sustainable Entrepreneurship and the KIU Business Incubation Centre.

2018-20: Promoting Women’s Entrepreneurship in Gilgit-Baltistan:
This one-year project aimed to assist Karakoram International University (KIU) in enhancing and promoting women entrepreneurship in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) through the KIU Centre for Sustainable Entrepreneurship capacity building

These earlier projects were intended to enhance the capacity of KIU to offer local entrepreneurs training in the primary business practices associated with entrepreneurship, and more specific training in their respective sectors.

  • Engage and attract women to entrepreneurship by offering awareness sessions as well as training and development programs.
  • Create specific courses and opportunities for women to benefit from entrepreneurial training and exposure to national markets through site visits.
  •  Organize training and counseling sessions for women to facilitate work-life balance and become educated about their rights.
  •  Set up a Women’s Resource Centre at KIU to provide women in general and women entrepreneurs, particularly a platform to address their common issues and share their success stories.
  • Establish a Gender Studies Department whose focus includes practical offerings that resonate with the concerns of the Women’s Resource Centre, including women’s entrepreneurship, but also comprises cross-cutting courses from across the humanities and social sciences.
