The Tuxámshish Revitalization Learning Series, better known as TRaiLS, is a series of talks and discussions hosted by the Northwest Indian Language Institue (NILI) at the University of Oregon.

In response to COVID 19, NILI moved its programming online in 2020 and called it LRLS (Language Revitalization Learning Series). We re-envisioned our summer institute and LRLS as a series of speakers from communities actively revitalizing their languages. Our goal was to keep the talks short and varied, then to involve the participants as much as possible in small discussions and activities related to each daily topic. We were able to gain a global audience and continued to offer LRLS in summer 2021.

In November of 2021, one of the founders and board members of NILI, Tuxámshish (Virginia Beavert), turned 100 years old. We renamed the speaker series in honor of her and her role in establishing the work NILI does through the University of Oregon.

Now in its third year, we hope you find the TRaiLS speaker and discussion series to be valuable in the work that you do.
