Gina is from Twinsburg, Ohio. She received her B.A. in both psychology and Spanish from The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. As an undergraduate, she discovered her interest in body image while working as a research assistant for a meta-analytic investigation of body dissatisfaction change over time. She then conducted research on the effects of media images of women on body appreciation. Gina says she is thrilled to join the UO’s Counseling Psychology PhD Program! Her research interests focus on ways to increase positive body image and prevent disordered eating behaviors. She is also interested in exploring the variations in eating disorder symptomatology and recovery within Latino populations. In her free time, she enjoys running, yoga, hiking, and swimming. She also loves reading, being around animals, and going to concerts.
