TWO STEPS TO SIGN UP:
-
- Enter your name and email address into one 90-minute time slots in the sign-up form.
- Complete the audition form.
AUDITION PREP:
- Music: Please prepare 24-32 bars (no more than 1 minute) of music not from this show. The song does not have to be from musical theatre. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music; no recorded music, please.
Actors may also be asked to learn a brief sequence from the show to sing in ensembles. This will be taught in the audition, and music will be provided. - Movement: Actors will be taught a brief movement sequence. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in; sneakers or similar recommended. (No heels, please.) No prior dance experience required.
- Script Reading: Auditions will include sides (scene excerpts) from the script; no monologues required. Paper copies of sides will be handed out at auditions.
- Improv Games: Due to the opportunities for improvisation built into the script, auditions may include improv games. If you’re not comfortable with improv, don’t panic. We don’t expect you to be hilarious, just be willing to play!
SCRIPTS & SCORES
Due to script rental limitations, we are currently unable to provide hard copy scripts or scores for checkout. The original cast album is available on Spotify and other streaming services. It is also possible to find a copy of the script online. (Ya know… Google it.)
ADDITIONAL SCRIPT NOTES
- Language: There is at least one instance of an ableist term used in the show by Barfee. The show also features an entire song from the character Chip entitled “My Unfortunate Erection.” We will be performing these moments as written. If you have questions or concerns, please talk to Tara!
- Character Genders: Actors will have an opportunity on the audition form to mark what gender identities they feel comfortable playing on stage. Actors’ personal gender identities do not have to match those of their character, so long as the actor feels comfortable playing a character’s identity as written. We will not be changing the scripted genders of characters.
