Due to a increase in supply and effective community efforts, The University of Oregon Office of Sustainability, has ended our role helping coordinate the Personal Protective Equipment Drive.

The University of Oregon Office of Sustainability is committed to supporting both campus and wider communities in the Eugene area and throughout Oregon. We continue to be considerate of the needs in our community and build support community efforts as effectively as possible in our capacity as the Office of Sustainability.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) presents an unprecedented challenge to our community. This project was to join campus and community to help where we could.

Our office supported a grassroots effort to address urgent needs in our community and beyond. We helped organize donations of crucial handmade masks and professionally produced personal protective equipment (PPE) for our frontline medical professionals.

The call for volunteers asked of our community:
  • Do you have gloves, masks, or medical gowns to donate? Can you make them?
  • Would you be willing to help with pick ups and deliveries of donations? Do you have access to a car?
  • Are you able and willing to make calls or texts, urging dentists, building trades companies, tattoo artists, and others to donate their PPE resources?
Your help is greatly appreciated. Tell us who you are and how you want to contribute.

Please explore this blog to learn more about the project, be sure to check the interviews with participants, volunteers, and agencies which received donations.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) presents an unprecedented challenge to our community.

Let’s join together to help where we can.

The Office of Sustainability is supporting Oregon community responses to the COVID-19 crisis. We are currently supporting grassroots efforts in Lane County to produce and distribute handmade masks to healthcare workers and other frontline relief providers.
