Part of college is studying. There are a lot of different ways people can use to study for their classes and learn the information necessary to pass the class.
For me, I have multiple ways I study depending on the class I am taking. I have studied by myself and have formed study groups. Both of these ways have helped me, but sometimes I tend to do one of them more often. This is because sometimes I am not able to find the right people to study with in my class or I want to have a study session with just myself. Studying with others can be beneficial because multiple people work together and can make interesting questions to increase the understanding of what was discussed in the week’s lectures.
One tip I would give for choosing study buddies is finding people in your class who you get along with and find people who take the class seriously, so you don’t find the wrong people to study with.

College can be a stressful time. Between classes, sleep, and a social life, being a student is asking a lot. I have made a list of a couple ways I use to lower my stress.
- Exercise I love to walk around the city of Eugene or work out at the awesome REC that is free for all UO students. I love meeting new people while working out. If you want to have a great walk, I recommend walking around Autzen Stadium.
- YouTube When I am feeling a need to chill, I watch a couple of videos on YouTube. I love being able to laugh while doing something I love, social media.
- Listening to Music My favorite thing to do for de-stressing is listening to music. One of the reasons I listen to music is because I like to share my music taste with others while getting new music suggestions from my friends. If you see me on campus, most likely I will be listening to music.
- Plan I find that if I schedule my week out, I will be less stressed. This is probably because I then know what to do each day.
- Treats After I have finished a big assignment or finished the day’s homework, I usually buy myself a treat from one of the vendors on campus. This allows me to tell myself “Hey, I’ve done a good job!” and will allow me to keep working hard.
Here are also another couple low-cost ways to manage stress.

My family loves to travel. I have practically grown up on airplanes because I have traveled around the country so much. Each summer, I would travel to Madison, Wisconsin. There, I would spend two weeks visiting my grandparents and cousin. I love traveling because I am able to experience new places and notice how their culture is different than mine. This is one of the reasons I chose to study abroad in London this summer. I know I am going to have so much fun! 🙂
One of the most memorable trips I have gone on was a trip to Italy with my family. There, we toured Rome and other famous cities and really experienced Italian culture. We also got to stay in authentic bed and breakfasts in the middle of the city square so we could see how bustling downtown was.
Here is a post about a trip to Barcelona, Spain.

There are many discounts offered to college students that some people might not know of. This post will discuss a couple of discounts available to students specifically around the UO community.
Everyone knows that it is important to have a computer for college and both Apple and Microsoft offer education discounts for college students.
Also, UO students can get Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel …) for free! Yes, I said free. Usually, this can cost over $100, so by getting these applications through UO, there is a lot of money that stays in your wallet.
Movie Theaters have discounts for students. Go to the Valley River Mall and they won’t even ask for ID. This is a great deal because movie tickets can be expensive and nobody wants to pay for overpriced movies. Also, Ducks After Dark is put on through the Center for Student Involvement and screens a popular movie every Thursday starting at 9 in the EMU for free. Catch a good movie with friends while sipping on a soda and munching on some popcorn.
