Identifying Functional Requirements for Vibration Damping, Impact Absorption, and Cushioning in a Mountain Bike Shoe

The first assignment for the class was to design, fabricate, and test a thing to prevent an egg from breaking when dropped from shoulder height. After an exhaustive sketch session I chose an idea I could realistically make in the allotted time for the project using readily available materials. I chose to make a container with padding / shock absorption. I made a 6 in^3 cardboard box with some bubble wrap and tissue paper molded into a shape that would surround the egg. The box hinges open to allow easy loading and unloading. The box closure is a shoe lace.
So many crazy ideas!
… This is the EGGSBOX 360 !!!
2. Place Egg In To EGGSBOX 360
3. Ensure Egg is Fully Inserted
4. Place padding flap over egg hole and close box
5. Tie EGGSBOX 360
6. Drop EGGSBOX 360

After 3 drops from more than shoulder height the egg did not break and the box remained in good condition. Watch out middle schoolers here I come!
