About

SLOW LAB is an interdisciplinary research collaboration promoting critical enquiry into global cultures of speed, mobility, and connectivity.

Based at the University of Oregon’s College of Design, SLOW LAB works at the intersection of the humanities, social sciences, and art and design fields. It brings together a diverse group of theorists, practitioners, and designers who are interested in the transformational effects of accelerated living on visual culture and the built, natural, and social environments. Reflecting the group’s concern with sustainability and social justice, the lab takes a special interest in the relationship between velocity and issues of inequality, precarity, and environmental change.
