I’d thumb through Boise’s community education catalog when it came out twice a year and wish I had the time flexibility to sign up for Pilates, Asian cooking, meditation, beginner pottery, painting…….Then the catalog would end up in the recycling bin. In early 2019 I had control of my calendar for the first time in decades and decided it was time for the wish to become reality. I registered for watercolor classes.  A couple of months later, at a fundraiser for Opera Idaho, I won a raffle prize – six weeks of pottery lessons.  The universe was telling me something……I became a great believer in art therapy.  Through much trial and error, I learned that painting with watercolors is more about the water than the paint and that improperly centered clay on the potter’s wheel is always disastrous. I figured out what my style is and definitely is not. I gained a greater appreciation of art’s subjectivity. It’s a journey and I’m just beginning.
