Graduate Student: Crowdsourcing the Collection of Transportation Behavior Data
Start Date: June 15th, 2014

Description: We are seeking a highly qualified Masters or PhD student for conducting research on the development and use of mobile crowdsourcing applications for collection transportation data. The research project involves a joint partnership between University of Oregon’s Department of Geography, Department of Planning, Public Policy and Management, and the InfoGraphics Lab, in addition to the Lane Transportation Authority. The position includes developing and testing a mobile crowdsourcing app, providing statistical analysis of behavioral data, teaching mobile mapping technologies in an advanced GIS class, and writing research manuscripts and technical reports. Expected qualifications include experience in server technology, GIS, mobile mapping, and statistical analysis. Furthermore, the successful candidate will posses excellent writing skills and the ability to work with, and coordinate, multiple researchers from academia and industry. The position guarantees funding from June 15th, 2014 to June 14th, 2015, and competitive candidates can secure further funding via graduate teaching fellowships in the Department of Geography.

Short-term Research Assistant: Socio-Ecological Drivers of Bark Beetle Disturbances
Duration: March 15th to June 15th, 2014

Description: We are seeking a graduate student to assist in data analysis and proposal writing tasks related to research on outbreaks of mountain pine beetle in the American West. Tasks include analyzing data and creating graphical outputs, creating maps, and assisting in writing of research proposal and manuscript. Expected qualifications include excellent writing skills, statistical software experience, GIS experience, and the ability to work independently.
