I want to design a Airbnb Event-rental tower. It will be another new business model for Airbnb; which will make Airbnb: an innovation company in Urban development, instead of a online sharing website, like craigslist. It will make Airbnb rich, and proud of themselves at the same time. Right now, they are experiencing frustrations from municipalities, tax system, activists, roaring housing price all over the world.
For the first time, Airbnb is going to own its property. They will rent out this tower to anyone, for a lot of different activities. Portland residences will no longer need a bigass living room for birthday parties and weekend get-together; offices will no longer need a fancy presentation room for VIP clients, and office picnic can go indoor when it rains; city hall meetings will no longer be in a weird corner of an old building where nobody knows where it is; national events (other than football) can be held in the center of the city where public transportation can easily reach.
It can be part of the solution to many urban problems. With a smaller living room, portland residences pay less for a compact living unit; smaller property lots in the urban area can be developed for these smaller type of dwelling; small businesses can rent out less permanent office space without worrying where to present to their clients; public services can get more accessible; portland can get famous again after “the Portlandia”.

Is your a project a reactions to diminishing living space? Are you ok with shared living / event space …is architecture the solution or is this a economic / social problem? Is there a minimum living space for you that should be required? Is it the role of government to regulate such things? Is there fair housing?
