About Us
This website was created by four students from the University of Oregon who are committed to making computer science lessons more accessible and less daunting for elementary students and teachers. The four lessons posted on this website were inspired by the materials and activities that they completed in their EDST 422 Technology Education class. Each member of this team has worked with students in the classroom and have infused their experiences into these lessons. These students are passionate about teaching and eager to make learning more fun.
About Scratch
For our lessons, we chose to have the students work with Scratch. Scratch is a website with a simple visual interface in a simplified coding language that allows young learners to create digital stories, games, and animations. Scratch promotes computational thinking and problem-solving skills; creative teaching and learning; self-expression and collaboration; and equity in computing.
