Bio-engineering and Prosthetic Design

Ron Wyden with UO Bioengineering club

In conjunction with the Bio-engineering club out of Mike Hahn’s group in Human Physiology, The DeArmond MakerSpace helped with the creation of a prosthesis for a local young man.  The mid-arm section was printed on our Ultimaker 2+ printer.  It also used the pink PLA plastic the we purchased to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month last year.  The project caught the eye of Senator Ron Wyden who then came to visit the students that created the prosthetic arm and hand.  Other projects from the group can be seen on the table in the lower center of the image.  Kudos goes out to the club and to Mike Hahn!
