Toaster Radios and SMT Technology

Thanks go out to Stanford University’s Maker Lab64 faculty for introducing us to Surface Mount Technology (SMT) for miniature circuit boards.  Students from the Eugene 4J School System, the DeArmond MakerSpace, and participants of the UO START UP WEEK out of the Lundquist College of Business, have all had the opportunity to build  AM-FM “toaster” radios.  “All you got to do, is bake them in the oven,” and the components fuse into place.  However, it does take some skill with the use of tweezers, and a few temperature sensitive parts DO need to be added after baking.
