Professionalism Grade

For my BA 352 Professionalism grade, I propose that I receive 42 out of a possible 50 points. My justification is as follows:

Punctuality – 8/10

I was on time or early for every class session and team meeting that I had. This allowed me time to mentally prepare myself for these classes and meetings so that I could participate in them to the best of my ability. However, I deducted two points from my punctuality score because I forgot to sign up for my Resume meeting with the LCB Career Services GTF until after the deadline.

Participation – 8/10

I participated in both class discussions and class activities and added value to them. However, I was more engaged in class activities than I was in class discussions. Although I was actively following the discussion, there were a few times when I could have contributed my own perspective to the discussion but chose not to for various reasons. Also, in team meetings, I would sometimes participate too much and would not let others contribute to the conversation as much as they might have otherwise. For these reasons, I deducted two points from my participation score.

Respect for Others – 9/10

In my interactions with the LCB Career Services GTF’s, my team members, and other classmates, I displayed respect while listening to and/or giving feedback for different assignments. For example, during my team’s prototype assignment, we received harsh and negative comments from our users but, instead of dismissing the comments or making the users feel bad, I used their comments to help improve areas of our prototype that were weak even though that meant that we had to make several changes. During team meetings, I was always on task and tried to keep others on task as well. However, I deducted one point from this score because when I had a different view of what our task was, I would pull my team members away from other important things so that they were doing and have them do the task that I thought we were suppose to do.

Preparation – 10/10

I came to class, feedback sessions, and team meetings prepared with the assignments that were due. I also tried to help my team members remember and finish these assignment on time. In addition to this, I believe that my assignments were completed to the best of my ability and that my preparation helped me to be a valuable part of class activities and discussions as well as team activities and discussions. As a result, I believe that I deserve all 10 points for preparation.

Initiative and Motivation – 8/10

Throughout the term, I took advantage of the learning opportunities given to me including my blog, opportunities to research my team’s proposal, Career Services feedback, and activities that took place in class sessions or group meetings. For the most part, I actively engaged in these opportunities. However, I deducted two points from this score because I did not take advantage of some learning opportunities, like office hours, and I was hesitant to fully engage in other opportunities, like my leadership development plan, because I was afraid to fail.

Total – 42/50

For the reasons listed above, I believe that my Professionalism grade for the term should be 42 out of a possible 50 points.
