S3C x AAG

Faculties and students of S3C were in full force at the AAG annual meeting in DC this year.

  • Dr. Amy Lobben and Bill Limpisathian present their talk titled Neurological Correlates of Cognitive Navigational Self-location
    • Dr. Lobben was also elected Vice President of AAG. Her term begins in July.
    • Bill was also elected Student Director of the Cartography Specialty Group (CSG).
    • Bill was also awarded the Environmental Perception & Behavioral Geography (EPBG) Travel Grant.
  • Dr. Carolyn Fish presented her talk titled Vivid maps of climate change: Do they make a difference?
    • Dr. Fish also cochaired CSG sessions at the conference.
    • Dr. Fish was also elevated to President of CSG after serving a year as Vice President.
  • Dr. Henry Luan presented his talk titled Imputing censored health data at small-area levels: A Bayesian spatiotemporal modelling approach
    • Dr. Luan also chaired the session “Spatiotemporal disease mapping and analysis”.
  • Antoine Nzeyimana and Dr. Henry Luan presented their talk titled Representation Learning from Geospatial Data
  • Shiloh Deitz presented her talk titled Measuring Geographic Variability in Household Level Inequality
  • Dongmei Chen presented her talk titled Climatic Niche of the Mountain Pine Beetle During its Recent Range Expansion in North America
  • Mohammad Eshghi presented his talk titled Machine Learning Predictive Modeling for Geospatial Occurrence-only Data
  • Recent PhD graduate Dr. Megen Brittell presented her dissertation research titled Sound, Maps, and the Brain
