Bill Limpisathian

“Bill” P. William Limpisathian graduated with his PhD in 2022. His advisor was Dr. Amy Lobben. He is now Assistant Professor of Cartography + Geovisualization at UW-Madison. His primary research interest is in neuro-cartography, where he investigates the neurological role of visual contrast in mediating map and spatial cognition using fMRI neuroimaging methodologies. He was also a Graduate Employee-Cartographer of the InfoGraphics Lab. He previously completed his Master of Science in Geography at Penn State in 2017, under the guidance of Dr. Cindy Brewer where he studied the perception of visual contrast of cartographic features in relation to visual hierarchy across map displays. Prior to that, he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Geography-GIS degree with a minor in Information Science and Technology for Earth and Mineral Sciences from Penn State in 2015.
