Civilization Session 2

I am not complete shit at this game anymore. Do not get me wrong, I by no means have this game down, and am probably still shit compared to people who are actually good at this game. On the upside, I do understand a few things now. Sort of.

Let’s recap how last session went:

Not well.

With my second session I began to get the hang of things a little bit. I found found some resources online, and have been meticulously reading the tips and hints while playing the beginner option of Civilization, somethings began to be clear. I still find it close to impossible to get ahead in this game. I would like to focus on a single civilization for this blog post, Chieftain Pat.

Chieftain Pat (Leader of the Babylonians): The year was 1950 AD, I had just finished my turn, and successfully built my first “Trireme.” (I will be honest with you, I had no idea what the fuck a trireme was until this game, and I guess it is an ancient boat built and used by the Greeks and Romans). Anyways, with my new term I moved my trireme in the water, and it died immediately, with an image popping up saying, “a trireme that goes to far from land may get lost at sea.” Just when I think I got this game on lock (again, sort of), it throws me a curveball.

Fast forward, I am now on trireme #2. The year is now 2010 AD. Several turns after building my second trireme a blue boat appears out of nowhere, and this boat is no puny trireme. It looks like a full on military Air Force carrier and war vessel. Soon enough, a german civilization is now slowly taking over my cities and destroying all of my units. I’m sure you can guess where this goes…

Lol.

Hopefully my third and final session will go better. I am starting to wonder if I am addicted to this game, or just want to beat it to prove to myself I’m better than this. We will see.

On a scale from 1 to confusing I give Civilization a 6.5.

This session was played on a macbook pro on January 20th from 10pm – 11pm.
