I originally started my undergraduate career with a focus on environmental biology and ecology but after taking an introductory class in remote sensing, I found geography. Ever since, I have really enjoyed how geographic techniques can be used to solve environmental problems.
My main research interests focus on how human induced land use/land cover changes impact the ecological health of an area. For instance, how an increase in agricultural land use within the Mississippi River watershed leads to increasingly negative impacts on the Mississippi River Delta aquatic ecosystems (a project I worked on during my undergrad). As I begin my work as a graduate student at U of O I will be pursuing projects similar to this.
