About the Team

The Riparian Restoration Team 2020 came together to participate in fieldwork on a blueberry farm but had to change directions under the circumstances of COVID-19. However, we are grateful to have had the opportunity to remain working together and to share ideas remotely!

 

Lauren Frantz is a senior studying Environmental Science with a minor in Biology. After participating in a study abroad program in Australia, she developed a strong interest in wildlife conservation and dedication to climate action. The ELP has furthered this passion. She hopes to maintain a focus in the natural sciences after graduation.

 

 

 

Danielle Maves is a senior obtaining a degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Biology.  Her main focus is wildlife rehabilitation, but throughout her time in the Environmental Leadership Program, she has learned more about conservation and restoration which has opened her eyes to other field and career options. Because of this, she is excited to see which way her career will go as she has loved every experience in her natural science education.

 

 

 

While pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Will Northington has developed a keen interest in plant taxonomy, anatomy, and agriculture. In addition to developing his conservationist skill-set in the classroom, he has also held leadership positions in two environmental activism groups on campus – the Climate Justice League and OSPIRG – making him a well-rounded steward of the environment.

 

 

 

 

As a senior at the University of Oregon, Joshaniel Tan is completing a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with a focus on Life Sciences, as well as a minor in Biology. He is pursuing a career in wildlife behavior and conservation and is passionate about large mammals and predator-prey dynamics. He has conducted research in molecular anthropology to aid wild African elephant hybrid conservation and worked with tropical forest responses to climate change.

 

 

 

Gianni La Carrubba is a junior obtaining a degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Business Administration. His main focus is sustainable agricultural practices, conservation, as well as wildlife rehabilitation. Throughout his junior year participating in the Environmental Leadership Program, he has gained the experience and knowledge on native plant restoration, pollinator impacts, and integration as well as gaining experience in the field he plans to pursue.

 

 

 

Dan Liu is a senior with an Environmental Studies major and Art Management minor. She is an international student from China. She is interested in environmental humanities and conservation ecology. The Environmental Leadership Program has helped her gain more knowledge in the conservation of biodiversity and maintenance of ecosystem service. She plans to explore relevant fields in her future career.

 

 

 

 

Rachel Rosé is a junior in Environmental Studies with a focus on life sciences and a minor in Biology. During their undergraduate studies, they have worked with the Biology department research greenhouse and soil microbiology lab as well as actively managing a community garden for the University of Oregon Student Sustainability Center. In the future, they plan to pursue a career in Environmental Science outreach regarding the importance of pollinators and mycelial connections to ecosystem health within the context of climate change.

 

 

 

GE Project Manager: Holly Moulton is a PhD student in Environmental Sciences, Studies, and Policy, focusing on the social and material effects of climate change induced glacier melt on indigenous women in the Peruvian Cordillera Blanca. She is also interested in issues of environmental and climate justice in the Pacific Northwest, especially related to glacier melt, climate change adaptation and water rights.
