In Revelations 12 John describes a woman” clothed with the sun with the moon under her feet and her head a crown of twelve stars.” In verse 1. The woman is pregnant and giving birth. A dragon appears with seven heads and seven diadems on his head. The dragon was going to devour her child when it was born. The child was to rule all the nations. Her child instead was snatched and taken to God. A war broke out in heaven between the angels and the dragon who is the devil. The dragon was thrown down to earth. On earth he goes after the woman but she has the wings of an eagle and flew to the wilderness. The dragon poured out a river from his mouth but the earth helped her. The main characters are the woman, the dragon, and the angels. It takes place in heaven and on earth. John is describing a fight between good and evil. In Revelations 13 the beast is described in greater detail. He was blaspheming God and has authority for 42 months. People follow him and worship him. There is a war on the saints and the war of good and evil continues. Another beast comes into play and has the same authority as the first beast. It performs signs and makes people worship the first beast who is Satan. People must get the sign of the beast and deny God in order to buy and sell. The actors in this chapter are Satan and the anti-Christ. It takes place on earth. The shift of characters and the fact that it is now taking place on earth is showing the end of the earth in motion. Rome was destroyed and taken over by a new ruler and here we see that the earth is being taken over by Satan and the anti-Christ and will also be destroyed. Many people in Rome feel for false teachings and false prophets and many people will fall for the anti-Christ and his false teachings.
