Why should you learn R?

To all you folks who just joined us for the first time: Welcome, and thanks for making such a strong showing. Just in case we did not evangelize hard enough, here’s some info to encourage you to come back for week 2 and beyond.

Why should you learn R? A quick Google will reveal that many people have answered this question. My aim here is just to say quickly that it will help you conceive of, execute, and communicate your analyses. And it will greatly facilitate your ability to engage in reproducible science. Plus, the graphics are AWESOME.
