Community and Economic Development
What is Community and Economic Development?
The vitality of our communities relies on economic opportunities and strong local services. The RARE Program, through our members, serves to enhance this vitality by engaging communities, businesses, trade associations, and nonprofit partners for vibrant, sustainable local economies.
Our community and economic development area of work is the broadest, where members have supported communities within the realms of tourism, city planning, public health, historic preservation, rural broadband, housing, education, volunteerism, and more.
Examples include:
- Coordinating the development of a downtown master plan or parks and recreation master plan
- Creating regional economic recovery and resilience plans
- Engaging a community in creative placemaking and installing murals
- Promoting health and wellness initiatives by creating community resources and programming
- Developing recreation assets to support economic recovery in wildfire-impacted communities
